What is Laser Eye Surgery?
Laser eye surgery is a term which relates to the technique by which a laser eye doctor uses a cool blue beam of light to reshape the surface of the eye (cornea). The reshaping can be done beneath the flap (IntraLase LASIK) or on the surface (PRK/ASLA).
Laser vision correction is used to treat short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism as well as irregular or misshapen corneas. These are optical errors of the eye which have traditionally been treated with prescription glasses and/or contact lenses.
